WELCOME TO HOBOTEK! | | 2010-06-25 16:06:56 | | | Entoptic Phenomena EP | | To start off the label, the first release is Jon Weinel - Entoptic Phenomena EP. 'Entoptic Phenomena' describes visual patterns of hallucination; tunnels, lattices, vortexes and geometric spiral patterns of pin-point dots of light. 'Entoptic Phenomena' translates these patterns into sonic art through abstracted speedcore rhythms, drones and bass. The EP expands the vocabulary of psychedelic music through organic hybrids of techno and acousmatic sound.
Jon recently performed an improvised live set of this music in surround sound at the ISSUE Project Room in Brooklyn, NYC, which went down like a flaming basking shark in a sea of 30Hz. Jon's live show uses manually tuned oscillators to sweep all the low frequencies, in order to ensure that everyones trousers are affected. Click on the release and check out some of the audio clips!
